Patterns of Life

Undergraduate course, University of Nottingham, School of Geography, 2019

I was a Teaching Assistant for the 2nd Year Patterns of Life module at the School of Geography, University of Nottingham. My role included help leading practicals explaining key ecological concepts including island biogeography, latitudinal biodiversity gradients, and identifying conservation priorities.

Digital Explorers: Finding geospatial patterns in a changing world

Undergraduate course, University of Nottingham, School of Geography, 2019

I acted as a demonstrator for the 2nd year undergraduate module ‘Digital Explorers’ at the School of Geography, University of Nottingham. I was on hand to aid students with computer-based practical concerning key GIS topics including raster/vector manipulation, flow analyses and data visualisation using ArcMap. I additionally provided support for individual GIS project, investigating a topic in either physical or human geography using spatial data.

Emerging Challenges in Biogeography

Undergraduate course, University of Nottingham, School of Geography, 2019

Teaching Associate position at the University of Nottingham, School of Geography for the Emerging Challenges in Biogeography 3rd year undergraduate module. My duties included supporting computer-based practicals and fortnightly debates around a variety of topics including conservation, intraspecific variation, acclimation and carbon sequestration. Furthermore, I was in charge of creating and delivering hour-long tutorials complementing topics that had been covered in lectures and practicals, normally in the format of paper discussions in small groups. These again were based around a variety of ecological topics including IUCN Red Listing, trade-offs between biodiversity conservation and climate mitigation.

Intro to GIS

Undergraduate course, University of Nottingham, School of Geography, 2022

Teaching Associate on the Introduction to GIS course for first year undergraduates in Geography at the University of Nottingham. This course taught students about data types and spatial analysis using ArcGIS online, and culminated in an interactive map and report about the benefits of using ArcGIS online. I graded submissions, and provided detailed feedback.

Planet Earth

Undergraduate course, University of Nottingham, School of Geography, 2022

Teaching Associate position at the University of Nottingham, School of Geography for the ‘Planet Earth’ first year undergraduate module. I was drafted in at short notice to provide marking support for the module, marking over 100 student essays on ecological topics in under a week
